Analog synth with bell like quality with a slight bend at the beginning of the note giving it that "Switched-On" quality. Mod Wheel adds brightness and distortion.

(Blofeld) SwtchdOn 02 MM

SwtchdOn 02 is an arpeggiator patch for the Waldorf Blofled. The timbre is reminiscent of switched-on works from artists like Wendy Carlos.

Modulation notes:

• Velocity = Volume
• Last note played sets velocity for arp
• Mod wheel dirties the patch up
• After touch engage a pitch LFO

Performance notes:

• Play chord and notes to trigger arp
• Play around with Cutoff and Res for Filter 1 for extreme timbre changes
• Press shift button and dial to Tempo parameter and fluctuate temp as you play
• Use Clock knob to change arp clock
• Press shift+play to temporarily stop arpeggiator

"Sounds From a Distant Outpost" Ableton Live Pack Plus Samples

 

This is a re-posting of the announcement for this Live Pack from Modulate This on 12/17. I've included a new audio sample I made for the library. The following sound scape was created only one patch from the library - Clock Streams. It was improvised and recorded in one pass and illustrates the expressiveness of the instruments in this library via the use of modulators.

I'm very excited to announce that your FREE holiday gift is now ready for download! It is an Ableton Live Pack called Sounds from a Distant Outpost.

Sounds From a Distant Outpost is more than a sample sound library. Over 30 hours in the making, it is a set of 12 deep and expressive instrument racks that will transport you to a dark and distant outpost. From here you will be able to explore the sounds, machines, and creatures of this world.  These instruments will help spark your imagination and I hope inspire you to create your own soundtrack for this world. Of course, the instruments will also help add an interesting "edge" to any sound or music project.

The  source audio is made up of some of my field recordings as well  as original synthesized and re-synthesis harmonic content.  The concept for the instruments was based on a back-story I created as the project progressed. Fueled by the story and setting, I translated these source samples into Ableton Live racks and meticulously programmed them to create playable dynamic instruments which are placed under your command via macro parameters, velocity, after touch, and modulation wheel mappings. I've also provided the original source samples for the project so those who don't have Ableton Live will be able to use these samples as oscillator sources in synths like Absynth, Alchemy, ElectraX and Blofeld.

This project is also a social experiment. Rather than just provide a Live Pack, I've created a dedicated social microsite so you can share your notes and work with the library. I’ve also offered a SoundCloud drop box so you can share your original sound or music compositions.

I've had a great time creating - to coin a phrase - this  "story-based sound design with social remix" experiment.

MODULATE THIS 01 - Presets for Image-Line Harmless

 
This library contains 12 sounds that show off the harmonic range of Harmless.This library was first released on 12/28/2010 and have been included in Patch Lab for your convenience.

Make sure you try using notes across the whole spectrum of the keyboard and use velocity, MOD Wheel and aftertouch.

Installation VST Version (.fxp)

• Download this zip file ModulateThis01.zip
• Extract the contents of the zip into the folder containing Harmless presets. This should be something like
  C:\Program Files\Image-Line\IL Harmless\Presets.

All presets should then be in a sub-folder called ModulateThis 01

• Open Harmless in your host application then "Select preset" bottom right.

• Download ModulateThis01_fst.zip
• Unzip to C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 9\Data\Patches\Plugin presets\Generators\Harmless
• All presets should then be in a sub-folder called ModulateThis 01
• You can now see presets in the FL Studio Browser.
